). Elegance and design are synonyms for you. You like details, details, details and documenting all of those.
- You enjoy coding. You write code, and have written tons of programs that are running in systems worldwide. You feel proud of the code you write; and the code that your team writes matters to you. You like code that is simple and elegant.
- You have worked in small high-performing teams. You critique others work and are open to criticism about your work from others.
- You enjoy writing detailed test plans and test specifications and write your own unit / module level test cases. You feel ashamed if test teams break your code.
- You are extremely proficient in any one or more of the programming languages, and believe that you are in the top 5 percentile worldwide.
- You like scripting needed in Perl, Python or any others as needed, and understand the power and perils that they entail.
- You take responsibility for the task you took and understand that freedom and responsibility go together. You enjoy freedom and need no guidance.
- You know by experience that whatever you don’t understand you can learn quickly
- You will question conventional approaches and always strive to be different in the way you do things, of course for the better
- You have a Bachelors / Masters / PhD in Computer science, Electronics, Mathematics, Physics or any other discipline that forced you to exercise your intellect.
Embedded software engineering
Amagi needs your help in building targeted ad insertion solution on digital video receivers.
- You love working close to hardware and are a masochist when it comes to hard-to-solve memory leaks, MIPS issues and interrupt latencies.
- You've got experience with a number of real time operating systems such as Linux, ThreadX, and Nucleus. In particular you have worked with file systems, memory management, concurrency, mutual exclusion and message processing in real time operating system scenarios.
- You have a deep understanding of fundamental data structures and algorithms, particularly those that might apply to file systems, data communication protocols and real-time media processing.
- You have experience in working with digital media technologies (especially MPEG-2 or MPEG-4) at systems layer.
- You may have experience in digital video broadcasting systems. You may have worked in set top box platforms with digital media processors and DVB middleware.
Web backend / Server software engineering
Amagi needs your help to build the Amagi broadcast and decision servers that run 24 x7 making real time decisions based on user demographics and broadcasting ad content to receivers.
- You believe server-side software infrastructure demands the best algorithms for high performance
- You have experience in building server side solutions using JAVA back end
- You appreciate OO concepts, and are proficient in at least one of the object oriented languages
- You like analytical modeling of solution spaces and appreciate algorithm development starting with test case development. You have implemented heuristics and approximations algorithms for intractable problems that occur in real-life, and using Don Knuth’s book is a norm at work for you.
- You understand the gritty details of writing carrier grade software applications that runs 24 x 7
- You understand the issues in implementing large data servers: especially in handling transmission, memory, latency and disk storage.
- You have a deep understanding of fundamental data structures and algorithms, particularly those that might apply to database designs, storage technology and communication protocols
- You have experience in designing efficient databases and have spent excruciating long hours normalizing databases to squeeze the most efficient design for your system
Internet UI software
Amagi needs your help to build the web based tools and front-end required for advertisers.
- Building user friendly user interfaces is your passion.
- You've experienced the latest web technologies including PHP (is that latest you might ask?) AJAX, Ruby on rails , Grails, STRUTS or equivalent web framework and others that has made web development a breeze
- You have built web UI applications using widget libraries ( such as gwt) or any of the web frameworks mentioned above
- You have used JAVA, XML, CSS, JSP , JASPER to build web based UI applications
- You have integrated the web UI front ends with the java based backend applications
- You have experience in writing javascripts
- You appreciate OO concepts, and are proficient in at least one of the object oriented languages
- Scripting and fast prototyping is a close second to your mother tongue
- You have in-depth knowledge of JavaScript libraries and in building mashups for building web applications.
- You have deep understanding of fundamental data structures and algorithms (who says web developers can divorce themselves from the science of computing).
- You have experience and fine understanding of cross browser front end development issues.
- You have experience in working with database models including mysql , existDB, Oracle and others.
Headend Engineer
Amagi needs your support to deploy its ad-insertion solutions at various Cable Operator head-ends throughout India (North, East, West & South)
- You have lived in a head-end for a year or two amidst the humming noise of head-end equipments and know how those analog and digital head-ends are stitched at the minutest detail.
- You understand the importance of well planned and maintained head-ends which can minimize support phone calls at odd hours
- You can wake-up in the middle of night and remember the encoder parameter settings you configured during the working hours
- You have trouble shot the simplest to the mindboggling complex issues at head-ends
- You love travelling to various cities in India and love to taste the local cuisine
- You have a Bachelors degree in Electrical & Electronics/Communication
